Depression, anger issues, "acting out" or withdrawing from the world are ways adolescents try to cope with life challenges. For your adolescent, establishing a trusting relationship with a "neutral" adult offers the opportunity to express emotions that are frequently hidden from those they love. Through a combination of talk therapy, art therapy and play therapy, Rebecca will help your adolescent gain understanding of what motivates behavior and learn to reflect before making life decisions. Through mindfulness techniques, your child will gain skills in emotional self-regulation and stress management. In counseling, Rebecca offers you the opportunity to step back and reflect on issues that are creating difficulties in your life. With her extensive training in mindfulness approaches, she can help you unravel old patterns of thinking that can create imbalance. Rebecca will introduce practical mindfulness skills that can be used throughout daily life to help with anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues and grief/loss . Through talk, expressive therapies and body-centered approaches, you will be given the opportunity to explore what is truly important to you and cultivate a healthy and balanced approach to life. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Instruction Rebecca offers instruction based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's approach to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Combining secular meditation, body awareness exercises and simple yoga , she leads individual and group instruction for those interested in learning how to deal with the every day stressors of life. Musical Expression as a Path to Self-Understanding Rebecca is a professional pianist and singer who has been teaching for 25 years. Join her in creating and receiving sound as a focusing and meditative tool . Areas explored include chanting, drumming, sound meditations and focused listening techniques. Rebecca invites you to unlock the expressive voice and enjoy the healing benefits of sound. Previous musical experience is not required. Sound Healing and Relaxation Sessions Rebecca offers music bodywork and sound healing sessions. Each session incorporates sound, touch and guided relaxation. Rebecca gives lessons to all ages. Styles include jazz, pop, classical and Broadway. She can also instruct and collaborate with you on songwriting and recording projects. |
